A well adapted filtration system can help you save up to 70% or 80% on your swimming pool maintenance cost.

To be efficient, the filtration system must recycle all the pool water every six hours. For example, for a 80m3 pool you will need a 15m3/H filter (the filter's capacity is approximately equal to the volume of the pool divided by six).

Thanks to the pump, the water goes through the skimmers or to the spillway in case of a perimeter overflow pool.

The water then passes through the filter which cleans it, discarding small particles.

Clean water is propelled back in the pool via return inlets.

One of the other goals of the filtration is to avoid stagnation. That is why filtration time must be adjusted according to the temperature.

The filtration system is always made at least of a pump and a filter with its six-way valve (several pumps and filters for high-sized pools like public pools). Many different type of filters are avaiable, like the well-known sand filter, but other filters like diatoms filters provide some extra filtering power. Because of its thinness, diatom powder filtration lowers consumption of the water treatment products without leaving the water clarity aside. When designing the pool it is important to place skimmers, drains and outlets well to ensure a good circulation of water.

The vacuum port is used for pool cleaning : you can plug-in a robot which will clean out the pool automatically when connected to a supercharger (Be aware that flexible pipe installations are not suitable for this kind of devices).

To make your life easier, you can add various types of devices to your pool:

• Heat pumps extend the bathing period (usually from April 15th till October 15th), giving you the option to swim in comfort longer depending on your location and the type of device used.
• A swim against the current area can be set up when designing the pool or added to an existent pool. This device makes swimming possible in pools that were not initially designed for it.
• Treatment devices : various devices can be implemented to automate the water treatment. Salt electrolysis systems, copper-silver systems, ozonators, chlorine diffusers, ph regulators, etc. Ask for advice.
  
• Covers : There are many different type of pool covers: if you use a heat pump you may want a bubble cover to keep the water warm.
  Winter covers protect your pool out of the swimming season.
  Bar covers let you cover your pool up to your liking. Plus it is safe to use according to the standards.
  Automatic covers offer the same benefits as the bar covers but are even more aesthetic and easy to use.
• Safety : from alarm systems to shelters through rolling pool covers, there is a safety system for every single pool. Adapt it to your needs, keeping an eye on aesthetics.
